Photopolymer Technique
Step1. Preparation for the plate
The one for intaglio photopolymer plate called KM73.
It needs 2 seperate exposures. The first exposure is with an Aquatint screen.
Step2.
Prepare your acetates. You can choose to directly draw on it or print your photograph on it.

Step3.
Developing the plate.
Expose the image to your plate.
After the two exposures, take the plate quickly to the sink and run the tap.
What did I try?
I tried both of the ways of transfering the images to the acetate. The first one is to directly draw the image onto the acetate and try to create marks by using these tools.(Fig.1)
The second one is to either transfer the photo or the drawing to the acetate by printing on it.
These two ways create different outcomes. The first one is more hard to control but more original and rough. Whereas, the second one is more easy to control.
What do I feel about the outcomes?
I am really into etching now. The process is a bit difficult and complex but the outcomes are surprisingly amazing. Photopolymer etching is a new way for me but I will try more in the future. I can see the details on the outcomes and how delicate it is. I think the way of transfering the drawings to the acetate is good because I can control it and I love the outcomes to be quite old-fashioned. This way of creating artworks also related to my paintings, which looks a bit old, faded and it just like 'memories'.
